A Sample Fundraising Application Letter

Even if you're sending in a 42 page funding application, it's important to send a covering letter.

This should outline the basic information, as this is the first glimpse of you that any funder will see and it needs to be concise yet grab their attention

Here's our own sample fundraising application letter, based on a real funding application we made for an organization :-

Introduce yourselves - who you are, what you do, how long you've been established
Our church was established in 1760 when John Wesley visited our town .  The church building itself was completed in 1801.

What is the project for - what need does it meet.  
The church provides a vital building for various community groups, including visiting church choirs, as well as ......

The church community itself .....

What difference will you make?

A working organ will enable us to continue to engage in a traditional style of worship, which our members enjoy, as well as allowing us to ...

How will you do it ?

We have obtained three quotes for the work, with part of the work being done by our own volunteers, as no cost to the church

How much money you need and how much are you asking for from
your donor?

Mention the exact sum that you are asking them for, the total amount needed for the project and how much has already been raised towards it

How the rest of the funding will be obtained

We have already raised the sum of £4250 from our own members, with a further £1500 promised.  The local Council has also promised to give £1500 if we are successful in our application for funding to yourselves.
